Why I Invested in Microblading

Updated: May 31

Microblading is not just a cost- it is an investment. This investment in yourself brings you joy, confidence and saves you time. I invested in microblading because I was embarrassed at how over plucked my brows were. I was sick of drawing them on every day and I was afraid to be seen without my brow makeup on. I would even sleep with my brows filled in, so that my boyfriend at the time didn't see me without eyebrows.

After my microblading experience, my brows were finally symmetrical and framed my face perfectly. I now have the outline of where I should actually be tweezing and applying makeup. It is like a stencil that is always there! I now get my brows touched up every year and add a lamination and tint for that extra pop. Now my brows are one of my favorite features and I feel confident without makeup on.

Some people may experience sticker shock when they see the price tag attached to a microblading treatment. I want to help put the costs into perspective.

Once you consider some of the monthly costs associated with maintaining your appearance, you might better understand why microblading is worth the investment.

Maintaining Your Appearance Is Always an Investment

You don’t have to go far to find a person who will tell you that maintaining your appearance isn’t cheap. While your mani/pedis don’t seem like they are costing you that much, it starts adding up when you start combining that with your facials, hair, and wax appointments, etc. According to this article released by Byrdie, the average cost of beauty maintenance could put you through Harvard.

The Average Woman’s Monthly Spend on Appearance

The average woman spends just approximately $313 per month on appearance alone. Over the course of a lifetime, that adds up to a whopping $225,360. For women, the costs are broken down by category, in order as follows:

  • Facials

  • Haircuts

  • Makeup

  • Nails

  • Botox

The Average Man’s Monthly Spend on Appearance

Men aren’t that far behind their female counterparts, spending $244 on a monthly basis or $175,680 over their lifetime. Their categories vary from women, though, with the highest costs, in order, going to:

  • Facial moisturizer

  • Gym memberships

  • Hand cream

  • Shaving products

  • Supplements

Microblading Pays Off in the Long Run

When you look at the overall costs of maintaining your appearance, you can begin to see the value of investing in a long-term solution like microblading. When it comes to microblading, you pay a cost upfront, and the rest is just small maintenance. In the end, you are saving on your most valuable asset- your time.

After completing your microblading treatment (including your follow-up appointment), you’ll just need to consider touch-ups every 1-3 years based on your skin’s retention. And, don’t worry! Touch-ups won’t cost you as much as your initial appointment.
